Larrabee’s latest effort -
On Always Together

If you enjoy the effortless jazz style of Tony Bennett and the late Frank Sinatra
you're going to love the latest Robert Larrabee album -
This local resident tenor not only sings, he writes the lyrics and comes up with the melody too. He's put together 10 special songs with the full orchestra backing they deserve and went to Nashville for the recording.
"In my mind I could hear the big band sound and when I wanted certain aspects to be punctuated with particular musical instruments I knew this was the route to go," said Larrabee.
"This was the most exciting part of the process," said Larrabee. " I love to hear it emerge into exactly that I had in mind."
It doesn't take Larrabee long to remember exactly when and where a song came together. Sometimes it's watching his wife Brenda that inspires him or daily interludes of life that prompt the flow of words.
" I want to do original music with wonderful melodies, great arrangements and rhythms that will make peoples' fingers snap and feet dance," said Larrabee. "They should also touch hearts like songs used to with lyrics and melodies about love."

Larrabee's keyboard based pop/rock sometimes has a touch of country and always gets
right to the point with his emotional vocals. "Brown Eyed Angel" is a tender love
song . On "You've Gotta Know," he sings to a special lady. The ballad builds nicely
with layers of keyboards and vocals. This is the kind of song someone might request
at a gig. "Ask David What Freedom Is" is a very passionate look at one person's life
and dedication to what he believes is right. There's a growl in his voice that drives
the point home.
"Matthew's Song" is a bit different in that it's not for a special
sweetheart but for a special little boy, his son. It's very sweet and sure to make
you go "aw." There's a searing electric guitar and ominous keyboards in "This Place
Was Once a Paradise," a perfect complement to the angry lyrics. "I Want You to Love
Me" is just what it sounds like, a plea. Its intensity is enhanced with a horn section
and a soulful organ., Larrabee is certainly moving in the right direction.
The arrangements are interesting and a good match for his songs. Emotionally, you always know where he's at.
